We strongly believe that future research is international, interdisciplinary and data-driven. Guided by this spirit, we have established the Scultetus Center as an integral part of CASUS to promote interdisciplinary science and foster cross-border flows of knowledge.
At the Center for Advanced Systems Understanding (CASUS), our goal is to develop data-intensive systems research to address grand challenges including predicting biodiversity loss under global change, improving cancer diagnosis, understanding organismal development, and describing high energy density phenomena in warm dense matter. To do this, we focus on developing digital solutions that combine innovative methods from mathematics, systems theory, data science, and computer science.
The Scultetus Center promotes international mobility, as well as intercultural and professional exchange broadly as integral parts of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education. We believe that facilitating study and research exchanges among current and future CASUS partners will attract even more talented students and professionals from around the world to CASUS.
At the Scultetus Center, we aim to provide the foundations for excellent, world-class research. We are committed to help scientists expand their interdisciplinary scientific networks. We organize workshops, symposia, conferences as well as summer schools on complex systems, and through our Scultetus Visiting Scientist Program and Early Career Fellowships, we offer short research stays at our institute to scientists of all levels.
