Also the second edition of a Scultetus summer school was as well-attended as the first one last year. The organizers around CASUS Young Investigator Michael Hecht again welcomed mostly master students from the Mathematical Institute of Wrocław University where Hecht is a Visiting Professor. But there were also students from Dresden University of Technology.
All came to Görlitz to study practical and theoretical aspects of approximating and interpolating functions in a packed four days. Approximating functions is the basis for spectral methods. In the course of the event, the students applied these functions by solving differential equations and other related challenges in scientific computing using minterpy, a Python package for multivariate interpolation developed at CASUS.
The idea of Scultetus summer schools is to both familiarize aspiring talents with cutting-edge research topics and to make them aware of the first-class research conditions at CASUS. The organization of summer schools can be supported by the Workshop & Symposium Program run by CASUS’ Scultetus Center that accepts applications throughout the year.
