CASUS makes an impression in Zittau

Science festival in the tri-border area of Germany, Poland, and Czechia attracts tourists and locals

Assembling molecules, spinning the wheel of (scientific) fortune, or discussing the role of science in our society: The activities organized by the CASUS team were very well received at the science festival “oha! – The Adventure of Science” in Zittau.

Following last year’s festival in Görlitz, this year’s event was held as planned in Zittau, a city located 30 kilometers to the south. As part of the annual city festival, many interested locals and tourists visited the exhibition stands, introducing the vast majority of them to the theme of “Science and Lusatia” for the first time.

At the CASUS booth, one could learn about the research on complex systems. Of course, there were also some hands-on experiments like testing the electrical conductivity of pencils, building molecules—either in real life or in a digital game—and spinning the (scientific) wheel of fortune. Guests were also invited to find out just how international the CASUS scientists are and what languages they speak.
