Location in Görlitz
CASUS is located in Görlitz, the sixth largest town of the Free State of Saxony and part of Germany’s easternmost district. Görlitz lies on the German-Polish border, opposite the Polish town of Zgorzelec and has a rich architectural heritage. Many movie-makers have used the various sites as locations.
The Görlitz location explicitly promotes CASUS’ goal of quickly establishing international relations. Görlitz is located close to the partner institutes in Dresden and Leipzig as well as to the Polish partners, in particular the University of Wroclaw. With the location choice of Görlitz, the character of the cross-border connection of researchers from different disciplines is emphasized and realized in the close scientific cooperation of the partners of the Saxon nucleus with strong Polish partners.
